Æbleroser

… Is Danish and means Apple Roses. This little treat is a lot easier to make than it looks and will be a show stopper at any dinner party. The roses are great to make a day before they are served, just keep them in an airtight container.

Ingredients

  • 2 packs puff pastry ready to roll
  • 3 apples
  • ½ jar apricot jam
  • A pinch of cinnamon

Method

  1. Turn your oven to 200°C
  2. Thinly slice the apples and bake them for 15 minutes
  3. Cut the pastry into 6 even pieces. Cover them in apricot jam, place the apples on the top with the ‘moon’ side sticking up
  4. Fold the pastry over and roll them up into little roses. Place them in a greased cupcake tin
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake for 15 minutes. Let them firm up for about 10 minutes, before you place them on a baking tray and bake for another 5, until golden and baked through
  6. Serve as they are or with a little custard or ice cream
